Genevieve Gauckler’s little aliens are the current darlings of fashion and beauty advertising.

mandala_five_jun_05.jpgGauckler’s alien creatures have popped up in ads for French cosmetics label Bourjois and most recently luxury brand Longchamp. Longchamp – which recently commissioned a range of bags designed by famous patchwork quilt maker Tracey Emin – is clearly attempting the ape the kind of success that Louis Vuitton had with its Stephen Sprouse and Takashi Murakami collaborations.

And now Gauckler’s cutesy aliens – which we first came across in the fab thisisamagazine.com - are inhabiting luxury fashion advertising too. Cute clearly sells – even $300 handbags.

Pictured is one of Gauckler’s more recent illustrations – Mandala Number Five as well as a dodgy shot of a Bourjois poster taken from a phone. See the Longchamp site for more. crap photo.jpg
